tyres on 05 V8?
i have the 19inch Pirellis on mine but need new set of tyres..been doing a lot of reading on the forums but still undecided as to what to do;
option a - get rid of 19 rims and get 18s?
option b - keep 19s and just buy new AT tyres
option c - keep 19s and buy a set of 18s for offroad tyres
unfo, i wont be able to go below 18 due to front V8 brakes so any other options or opinions are much appreciated. i was running BFG MTs on my D2 which I have used for greenlining and was pretty hapy with them but this car is going to be used for longer distance driving with few days of laning a year.

Get a set of 17's with 265/70 mud terrain tyres for offroad, then you can run low pressures for ultimate performance and keep the 19's for long road trips.2007 Discovery 3 HSE

Can I fit 17s to a V8 as hearing V8s habe bigger brakes so 17s would not fit?

Nope 17" won't fit over the v8 discs,
19" GG at3 depending how much road/off road your planning. Also winter rated and worked great for me in the snow last year
Try Andy at AJS 4x4 tyres site sponsor, very competitive prices
D3 57 xs Stornaway grey
D2 02 commercial silver gone but a great servant and won't be forgotten

I only heard good things about GG AT3s but would be good to hear experiences.
I am not planning heavy offroad (yet) so guess I will stick to ATs. Any other General Grabber alike tyres then? I don't want full on road as they are useless in even little mud...

I am seriously considering ordering the GG AT3s but would it be better I get a slightly increased sidewall? If so, would I have any rubbing issues?
Also, Wrangler Duratracs are alternative to Grabbers, any got experience with the Wranglers on Disco?

Well you asked so this is MY take on tyres
When the gg at2 came out all I heard was good things so bought some, mistake no 1 they where rubbish
When the gg AT came out all I heard was good things so bought some, mistake no 2 they where also rubbish
In between these I had some bfg AT best tyre in world but not available in 19's
So went to duratracs, a very worthy alternative to the bfg AT and comes in 19's
For me the duratracs are a win win and I will be getting another set.Just remember:-

I have used BFG AT or MTs too and yes great all round but as you said no 19s
Aren't Duratracs noisy or less road friendly? Just saying as thread on Duras look bit more aggressive than the Grabbers

Couldn't agree more. Pirelli ATR in either 18" or 19", when I find a better tyre for my needs (25k pa road miles, but off-road use every week) I'll buy them. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Once the present Wranglers wear out that's what's going on mine. Only conditions they didn't do fantastically in is deep gloop, a condition I intend to avoid.

I've had a few "slidey" moments on Salisbury Plain . Although I did with MTR's on the D3 as well. Very much depends on the type of mud, parts of the Plain have a clay mud that sticks to any type of tyre and turns them into slicks.
The ATR is the best AT tyre on the road and in my experience incredibly tough off-road (that's gone and done it now). You can squeeze 50k miles out of a set of 19"s and easily achieve that with 18"s.
