Just had this myself when Mick was sorting my drain out, It can be done by just prizing the clips up to get to the wires underneath but can be awkward to get back in or you can remove the seat

doesn't it slide forward, to allign with holes and then can be lifted out?

Indeed Pete , That’s what I did , can slide the panel off its fixings in one go
