Brake lights not working
Hi everyone, I’m having trouble with the brake lights on a 06 disco 3. Neither brake lights are working. The centre higher brake light works fine when the brake pedal is pressed. I have replaced bulbs at both sides, making sure they were fitted the right way round. Fuse F15 behind the glovebox is ok. I’m presuming the brake light switch is ok as the centre brake light is working. Anyone any ideas?

need to look more at the bulb holders (clean contacts)
and try other bulbs.
you could try the bulb from the lower red light

Are the outer brake lights on the same fuse and circuit as the upper one?

Cool, that means if the centre one is working there’s not much else to check.

You need to replace the upper bulb in the light assembly.
The third bulb down is also a stop and tail bulb but ISN'T USED as a brake bulb, only a tail light.
I suspect you've replaced the third bulb down thinking it's a brake bulb and left the two blown brake bulbs in the upper two holders.
There's a link in my signature showing how to do the twin brake light mod that might help explain which bulb you need to swap out but in short, it's the one above the indicator. Mods:

All 4 side lights are lit up. I’ll have a look tomorrow and swop some bulbs around.

No I put the new ones in exactly as the old ones came out and all side lights are the same brightness. If any were the wrong way round they’d be brighter than the others.

You've changed the wrong bulbs.
I don't even think it's possible to insert a stop + tail bulb the wrong way around because of the key ways.Mods:

Of course it’s possible.... anything is possible
my sister did it once and it took me ages to get it back out. You would be surprised how hard it is to break one of those bulbs apart to save the holder.

Access to another lighting unit (borrow a friend's or neighbour's) to point towards the lights themselves or something else?
If you were a lot closer you could bung these bad boys in & see what happens.
