Locking the car with the cluster out |
|
Morning folks
I'm going to have to take my instrument cluster out to send off for repair. I'm aware that I can't drive the car without it for technical, safety and common sense reasons, but I was wondering if it's still possible to lock the car without it.
I'll be disconnecting the battery before taking out the cluster, so will I be able to just reconnect the battery and then lock using the key fob?
I only ask because I live in a bit of a dodgy area, and whilst the car won't be drivable I'd rather that anyone passing and trying the door didn't get free access to the car. Who, knows what they'd do? Clean the interior? Fix the driver's seat heater?
I can put it on the drive at a relative's house at a push, but it'd be a ton easier if I could keep it at home.
Any advice welcomed.

When my alternator died ,I took my battery out to charge it up. What I did was lock the doors from inside. Then use the passenger lock to open up (if it works).

Yup. That did the trick. No alarm on it, but the doors are all locked and the tailgate won't work with the battery disconnected so it's as "secure" as it gets. ***GONE*** 2007 XS Manual in Wet Weekend (Stornoway Grey) ***GONE***
