The important point yes, all out at the time and surprisingly no damage to the fabric of the buildings. Cattle all stood standing too.==================================

Glad to hear you are all well
The gaff has been hit a few times over the years... once causing £25k worth of damage ...however the one I remember most was dozing in my chair one late Saturday afternoon with the dog on my lap when a strike hit a fire escape stairs with a sound like a massive explosion ...we must have levitated as least a few feet in the air each

Well its not even close to £25,000, biggest issue is the greenhouse monitoring kit it was custom built by an electronics professor friend who has sadly passed on so not sure how I will replace it.
Using my EE phone as a hot spot for internet and despite being it a thick walled stone house with teeny windows, its still 5/6 times as fast as the wired BT connection.==================================

Yeah, happened to me about 30 years ago. House tv aerial took a direct hit, surge fried everything, telephone, tv, vcr, stereo, even the alarm clock and exited out through the 30amp breakers which all blew taking the electric meter with them.
I was watching tv at the time when the damn strike blew the back off the telly and set it on fire. According to a bloke in the street, a bolt of lightning came down, branched onto my tv aerial, the telegraph pole opposite and an iron man hole in the road. It sounded like a car back firing inside my lounge. The silence afterwards was very odd after such a shock.
I had to dash upstairs to change my bill grundys I can tell you, absolutely sh@ myself.Mods:

My Father worked in a house where the lightening went in the front door, left a burn down the hallway carpet, across the kitchen lino and out the open back door. For some bizarre reason both doors were open. No other damage was done but nobody could explain what had actually occurred or why. Another friend had a big fir tree hit which exploded and took the front of the house out. She was very lucky as she was in bed at the time and it smashed her room to pieces DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Actually witnessed ball lightning. Came out of some very low clouds hit a telegraph pole and proceeded to roll down the ground until it hit a dry stone dyke. Fascinating to watch but would not like to have been in its path!Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

My mother always insisted on the doors being open during a thunderstorm-literally an old wives tale.

Witnessed ball lightning at close hand (too close) some years ago. Sitting in my office in a single story brick building I are was looking towards the window when an orange ball materialised and disappeared in an instant immediately accompanied by a loud bang above my head. No vibration or shaking, not even by me. Rest of staff and I rushed outside to see the remains of the chimney scattered around and smoke pouring out from the basement. Fire brigade arrived and they extinguished a fire in a pile of rubbish in the basement boiler room. Lightning had hit chimney, travelled down conductor into basement and ignited the rubbish. No serious damage done although a brick had hit my car front OS wing leaving a dent. Insurance company refused payment because it was an “act of God”. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

At our old house we had a lightning stike in the road outside. It set off all the house and car alarms including ours which was in the garage, from the vibration of the bang I think (or would the EMF have done it?). I dont think anyone in the street slept through it
