Ignition key backlight
Hi,
I have Disco 3 2007, bought it with 150K, is there supposed to be a light around the ignition key, to illuminate the key slot when doors are opened?
If so, how, is it hard to get to it, worth the trouble?
Thanks

Hi - mine has an illuminated ring (green) that comes on with the courtesy lights. Had to check as I couldn't remember
I'm afraid I can't help with a fix but I'm sure someone will soon.

Don't have a fix for this but my ignition glow ring doesn't work either. I'd like to know if it's a simple fix or part of the ignition barrel.

Don't if its because of HSE spec?
But I only noticed the light around the ignition key area on, if I set the courtesy lights in automatic mode. I normally switch the courtesy light mode off. Hold the middle button top by windscreen (you known where I mean) until it flashes twice to enable or disable.

I can't imagine the key light bulb is difficult to change. It's a 5 minute job on most other LR/ Rover vehicles.
There's nothing cleaver about the light as it's simply fed by the interior light circuit. If the interior lighting is off, so will the key light. Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

Dead easy - undue torx screws that hold on the plastic shroud, disconnect dead illuminated ring, remove and replace with new one.

Hi Andy.
I took my ignition ring apart & replaced the bulb.
I cannot remember where I got the bulb from. It was a tiny little fella.
You'll need a soldering iron to replace it.
I may have some more of them at home. I will have a look tonight.Mitsubishi Outlander Phev 4H 2018.

If you have your interior light set for not to come on when opening the door then the ignition key ring light will not illuminate.D3 TDV6 S MY2005

Ok so it's not a standard bulb replacement job. Understand now. Thanks.
If you do find a bulb let me know if you wish to sell, or what type it is please.

Hi, I replaced mine recently, it's really easy to do. The bulb is a T5 286 cap less bulb in green and are only cheap. As Robbie says just drop the lower cowl and disconnect and remove the unit. You then need to split the unit by releasing the tabs. Once you have done this you will see the bulb. It is recessed in the unit but there is a tiny hole behind the bulb you can use to push it out. The new bulb then just pushes in. Hope this helps.D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
