Cooling hose replacment?

Hi All,
Recently I found a coolant leak at the coolant outlet hose on my D3 diesel. Leak was from the plastic connector from the hose to the outlet housing, and lucky for me the connector broke very easily when I was pulling everything apart. So I've got the thermostat hose assembly replacement hoses (see the attached image - its everything inside the highlighted area). Question is has anyone replaced the hose that goes up to the engine coolant inlet? As far as I can see there is zero access to that area. Not sure if pulling the power steering pump will help or not? I can just split the hose down near the thermostat and leave the hose up near the engine in place. In all honesty the engine coolant inlet is a plastic fitting to so Im not sure I'd be all that keen to touch the area without having a spare here anyway incase the plastic breaks
