What’s happening with my 255/50 R20 Scorpions?
I’m on my 4th Disco, previously I’ve seen 11k or 12k miles from the original tyres but on this car with 20” rims I’m up to 18k miles and still with 4mm all round
Is this the way with larger wheels or are the later D4s somehow better set up to give better tyre life?
My previous D3 and D4s had 18” and 19” rims.
I’m happily surprised although no ATRs in 20” so I have to rethink my next set.

Co-incidentally ive just checked the tread depth on the Wranglers I put on 18 months/18k miles ago, with 6mm tread at that time. The rears are down just 1mm and fronts 1.5mm.
Means I've got 27k miles/18 months left on them, swapped front to rear and taking them down to 3mm. And these bad boys just begging to get fitted.

Mind you, SWMBO did mention me getting another set of rims so maybe not all bad.

This is really odd I was getting low 20,000’s from the Scorpions on both of my, 20” rim equipped, D4’s, taking them down to around 2 mm - which is about what I’d have expected for the car’s weight and power
The car was almost always driven glently too.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Hi all, I’m soon going to fit some Scorpions, I’ve seen both the Zero and Verde fitted to Discos in this size, which do you all recommend? Thanks.

Difficult to say, as I’ve run Zero’s on the D4’s and Verde’s on the FF, so it’s not a fair comparison. However, the Verde’s are All Season, while the Zero’s are summer tyres and in the recent cold snap, the Verdes were noticeably better on frozen road surfaces. However, the tread on the Zero’s out to be better at clearing mud.
Not necessarily other people’s priorities, but I really can’t tell too much difference other than that.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Thanks, after all that I’m not sure if both or even which is actually available in 255/50/20 as Pirelli themselves don’t appear to list any tyre in this size whereas Blackcirles list a Scorpion Zero but the photo looks to be the ATR rather than the Zero.....

must be my driving that’s improved then.
We spend time on both East and West Scottish coasts so a lot of mileage is on fast and twisty A roads often towing a twin axle tin tent, <5% motorway driving.
