Compressor Replacement
My compressor was diagnosed as faulty by Geoff when he came to look at my car a month or so ago. Now my indy will be replacing it tomorrow with any luck (not sure which brand he will be using) and I wanted any advice that can be offered from the experts.
He has already mentioned that the original cover will not fit on any replacement. Anything other pearls of wisdom?

I don't think that's strictly true. You can buy like for like replacements for the Hitachi and the original cover will still fit. Or you can buy an AMK kit which includes a new cover (required as it's a different shape to the original). Or some people are now fitting them without a cover. Time will tell how they stand up.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

It's certainly not true, I replaced mine with like for like 4 weeks ago.==================================

What Geoff meant was if fitting a AMK and the old one is Hitachi then the cover will not fit, if changing like for like then cover fits . AMK is the way to go.

Yeah I think that is what he was getting at. It's a 57 plate so assuming it's Hitachi and he is ordering one from Euros although having just looked it's a brand called Arnott at £730!

Just done a bit of searching and looks like
Arnott is AMK and should be ok to run without a cover, just need to see where the best price is. Have asked my indy if he can order from AF.

You can get the same one from Advanced for £468 if you can wait , or tomorrow ECP will send a discount code for the weekend .
I saved 65% on one from ECP, needed one same day that being a Saturday so dug up the code.
Just remember if you go the AMK Arnott route to take off both top and bottom covers, mine had originally been replaced by previous owner and they had left the top cover in place resulting in the compressor being pushed down in it's rubber mounts so was very noisy.

Brilliant advice.
Indy has confirmed AMK for £465 inc vat and £150 to fit. Does the AMK require new software?

Yes. There is a software update that should be applied for the AMK.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

IID tool similar. Any LR Indie would have the equipment to do it. Should be okay to run for a bit with the old software until you can get it done. I believe others have done so. Do a search on here - there will be lots of posts.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
