Hi
Confusingly my handbrake switch throws a parking brake fault and dosnt engage, however If I take the key out the ignition it applies automatically faultlessly and switch disengages the brake as it should. Any ideas anyone? Landrover discovery 3, 2005, TDV6, manual, 5 seats

As above, or broken wiring to the EPB module where it goes in/out of the connector at the rear on top of the chassis.
I had this issue for months and finally tracked it down to failing wiring and fitted new wires bypassing the connector pair. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Thanks all. Tried a new switch all sorted. Took mine out, cleaned it, and put it back and now that one works again too. Landrover discovery 3, 2005, TDV6, manual, 5 seats
