Disco3 blowing headlights
Hello guys, so I’ve owned my Discovery3 for about 4 years now and it’s always had a thirst for burning out / failing it’s headlights (one at a time) however it’s become worse with 3 lamps failing in the last 3 weeks. I do change both lamps together for good measure and use osram, Bosch, or Ring lights... these are halogen H7 jobs.
The car has had a new alternator and battery in past 12mths but the issue existed beforehand. I do notice the odd time the headlights may dip a little (not a lot but you can see the drop of light levels) therefore suspecting something between the power source and the two headlights is causing an increase of resistance or something.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Am I going mad?
ThanksColin

It might be set up in the CCF for xenons so ramps the voltage straight up, shocking the bulb. Halogen setting is a bit dimmer for a short time. Pos previous owner had xenons in there and swapped them back to halogens before selling.

I had the same issue with my D3 particularly if I used the uprated bulbs, but heavy duty bulbs cured the issue - I believe that Halfords sold them. Ultimately an upgrade to Xenons is the best fix.
