Interesting read about previous owners still being able to control your car. It’s about the same as buying a second hand phone and not doing a complete format.

The problem exists as it is reliant on the 'ex-owner' to clear it (or a dealer, and once out the brand authorised network - applicable to all brands, not just JLR - it is likely to not happen) whereas it needs an ability for new owner to have access/authorisation to 'overwrite' the data as the legal new owner.
We have to either clear our management cars on return to fleet or do it in person at time of hand-back and, in both cases, sign a declaration that we have un-tethered the account from our sign-in details
