Expansion tank - bleed screw
Looking for some help with my 06 D3 HSE.
Over the past week the 'coolant level low' symbol has started to come up on the dash. No real change in fluid levels so assumed the float switch was broken with a little diagnosis from a friend.
However, checked a couple of days ago after noticing the heater wouldn't get hot and the level had dropped. As the engine was cold, I topped up the fluids and cleaned the expansion tank to try to diagnose where it was coming from - noticed a small leak when the engine got to temperature from the bleed screw in the top of the tank.
Was hopeful for an easy fix (!) but in ordering a replacement bleed screw from Rimmer bros (apparently suitable for my model/year) noticed that my current one seems to be different. Do I have an earlier model/after market manufactured tank (see photos attached). The new bleed screw sent out seems to have a wider thread and in researching the replacement expansion tanks, the bleed screw on those seems to be located on a 45deg angle? As in the photos, mine is vertical and the screw has a much thinner bottom section with the 'o' ring further down.
Any help or experience of the same issue appreciated - failing that its a new tank!
Thanks!
**UPDATE - apologies hadn't uploaded the photos previously

Take the bleed screw out and fit an o-ring to it, works well.

you can get a complete tank and sensor for about £25 on ebay.
and I can see Martin has now added some extra bits for photos
when I navigated to your gallery , where you'd loaded the photos, there was a new button saying "add to my posting list". so didn't need to cut'n'paste the url.
