D4 Timing belt replacement..? |
|
Can someone confirm when a D4 SDV6 needs its timing belt(s) changed.
Ive just been quoted £1000+ by my usual (very reasonable usually too) dealer as it's a "big service" and needs belts doing.
My D4 is a 61 reg with 80k miles.
cheers
simon
ps Another dealer quoted £515, but the service person was new and may not have picked up on the need for a timing belt (if indeed its needed)

Between £650-£800 is what I see quoted alot.
This is for the belts only-not a service as well.

OK, so £1000 for belts + service would be a reasonable price..?
Is 80k miles / 7 years the right time for the belts to be done..?
cheers

I think they should be done at 112k miles or 7 years, whichever comes first.
£1000 for service and belts seems good to me

My local indy quoted £600+VAT for the Belts, plus £180 for the service so about the same.
I seem to remember the suggestions on the forum is the change the Water Pump at the same time but will let the experienced people comment on that. D1 3Door (White) Long gone
D1 3 Door (Red) Long gone
D2 5 Door (Charleston Green) Long gone
D4 HSE (Black)

Just paid £1915.18 for my belts with a service, oh and they threw in a couple of inlet manifolds for free whilst they had a spare couple of mins.

Wow, I'm going to faint...lol
Maybe I misheard after they started saying one thousand, I could have not heard the rest of the "...nine hundred and fifty".
B@gger, that EV calculation is looking more compelling.
Cheers

In fairness the belt actually only cost me about £100, as extra labour, based on it being £1500ish for both manifolds to be replaced (c.10+ hours labour)

I believe 105,000 Miles or 7 Years, which ever first..
I paid £850 all in, in April this year for a service and belts on My D4 SDV6 MY12, It had 110,000 as I was late having the last service..
That was DLS in Wirksworth, Derbyshire So near you I guess, and had the same quote from a reliable forum member but would of had to travel to get to them.
The dealer quoted £1650+Vat
Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black
Disco4 MY12 SDV6 XS Orkney Grey (Gone)
Defender 90 200tdi Completely rebuilt.
