Scrap yards from Dover to Cornwall |
|
Next month I will travel with camper from Dover to Cornwall. At home I have a Disc3 who is with some cosmetic , some broken errors outside and inside. In Slovenia it is very difficult to get used parts for a good price, Ebay is too expensive due to postage. I'd like to find a Scrap yard where I could look at the whole thing and then remove it by myself. Can you help me with advice?

Try Colin White services (CWS) in Glastonbury, Somerset, it’s just off the A303 - so not too much of a detour. They normally have a big selection of whole vehicles to take bits from, Ive used them on several occasions for bits of trim etc. 57 Defender 110 XS TDCi

In southern U.K., at least:
Kent 4x4 breakers
Gentlemen of Salvage
I’ve used Kent 4x4, they’re nice and efficient. GoS didn’t have in stock what I needed but also responded promptly.

In the UK new legislation covers salvage yards and i’m afraid gone are the days where you will be allowed to roam around a yard removing components yourself. There may be the odd one but very few exist today.
The law relating to the ‘End of Life’ Vehicle regulations mean that vehicles have to be dismantled in a correct way. They have to have all of their fluids I.e. coolant, engine oil, transmission oils, power steering fluids removed. The vehicle is then scrapped.
Health and Safety Regulations in England in England are also extremely tough and these will prohibit persons walking around a vehicle yard removing components themselves...
I am afraid your search will be a long and difficult one...
Your best bet is to search on line for a vehicle salvage company such as HBC and register to purchase a complete accident or flood damaged vehicle for salvage and export it thus avoiding our end of life regulations.
Good luck!
