LR4 gearbox fault
Hi
I've got some issue with my lr4 2010 last winter, when the temperature drops below 0 I had a yellow triangle warning and message ”Gearbox Fault”. After few minutes running when I start again everything back to normal. But this morning message came again and the temperature was +5 at night. Gearbox working normal, can't notice any difference... Check for faults and got one on the transfer case control module P181D. Any idea what's that?

Mine does the same thing, especially if it's been stood for a while. If I haven't driven it for a week I can almost guarantee I'll get the same error. Drives fine. Usually I double lock it, unlock it and it goes away. Only ever on first start and worse in the cold.
Just replaced the battery and oddly it hasn't happened since...Jaguar Land Rover: "Building great cars, badly."

Transfer case control module went haywire on mine. Water was getting onto the top of it where the plugs are and corrosion set in, on a D3 it’s behind the battery between it and the bulkhead. Don’t know if it’s the same on a D4. Basically the bonnet seal shrinks with age and allows a gap which let the water in. That then lands straight on top of the connectors. What’s your mileage ? Perhaps an oil change may help ?Jarrod
