D3 no bluetooth unit can I fit one straight in ? |
|
Hello all
Im sure this has been covered before but Im lost in a mass of posts on the subject and hoped that someone could set me straight.
I have a Disco 3 2004 HSE V8 which has no bluetooth unit fitted in drivers side of the boot.I have the 6 cd changer and phone button on right hand side of radio unit which makes me think it had the Nokia system at some point. Can I fit the disco 3 bluetooth module straight in or do I need more professional help from some here perhaps
Many thanks in advance

Yep, the presence of the phone button doesn't actually mean anything was fitted originally, but it is an easy retrofit. Depending on what options you already have (e.g. do you have the voice command system in which case you won't need the mic) will make a difference as to what you need to get. You fit the system from the D4 (this later BT system is more reliable than the one that was fitted to the D3) - really easy to do. There are a number of people on here who can sort you out with the bits you need - I am sure one of them will be along in a minute!

Hi Will!
Did you manage to fit a BT unit?
I'm looking to do this mod as well, on my 2008 V8 HSE. Voice control, but no BT fitted yet...

I am in the same boat. I am waiting on a forum member to contact me at the minute as he said he has a unit to sell me. I don't know which D4 Bluetooth unit to buy to get the best result, otherwise I wouldn't wait. I also need a MOST cable I understand but need a steer in the right direction.

PM Wiggs he sorted me out, very easy on a HSE, D4 module and a MOST cable, 1/2 hour job and you’re away, best thing is the D4 module is superb and works better on the D3 than on the D4 IMHO, phone calls made easy by by using voice command, e.g. “phone dial Home”, reception and clarity are 100%. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I have had a conversation with Wiggs who sent me to Beanie: Beanie apparently has the kit to sell me, but hasn't been on the site for a few days as he hasn't read his PMs... so I am waiting on him really.
If somebody could say "these part numbers work and these don't" then I would go buy one from anywhere as I want to rebuild the car.

Do all the phone controls work at the moment, microphone and phone switches, if they do you only need a D4 phone module and a MOST cable, the MOST cable has to be made up and is not an LR component. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hello all
I haven't done it yet.
I have the steering wheel controls, voice control, most cable is already in bluetooth area drivers side of boot but Im not sure I can use it. Ive been waiting to buy diagnostics so I can sort the confuser.
Its a slow burn for me as finishing our house takes all my time/money but I will post photos when Im able to do the job.
If any of you manage to do it could you pop some photos of the most cable part of the job, it would be much appreciated
Cheers Will
