D3 Won't Turn Over
Hiya all,
Bought a super cheap SE TDV6. Bought sight unseen, apparently the starter just clicked and nothing happened.
Battery in it is an 010, so to small, but seems healthy, has been charged and tested as good. Try to start, and it does indeed click, almost clunk, everything goes off and no go.
I have striped the covers and cowlings off (can't find my viscount spanners to get that off though), tried to turn by hand ... Nothing. Can't get any turn forwards or backwards using a breaker bar.
Oil seems good, filters clean.
I'm suspecting a snapped crank I would assume? Are the starter likely to jam at all and lock up the fly? Not had chance to pull the starter yet.
the "tries to start … clunk …. everything goes off" is exactly what you get with a dying battery, so maybe you need to have something with enough umph to be certain it isn't just the battery being to low-spec.

It could be a number of things, the Battery is a critical component on these cars and must be of the correct capacity and in good health. You don't say if its an auto or manual, so it could be a seized crank. The oil pump mounting may have let go and it could have locked up as the timing would then be out of sync. It could be hydraulic lock, but if as you say a breaker bar will not budge the crank even slightly, then I would fear the worst. There are a few other checks you can do like removing the timing covers to check the belt/oil pump. (fill in your profile!) It will help us to help you!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
You could start with mileage, service history etc..

If it’s super cheap and in Derbyshire you can bet your life it’s super seized, fill your Monica and avatar in and give us some more info including photos, without it it could be anything, someone on here may even know the history of it. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I'll try and add a photo. Sorry, was doing this off my.phone quickly.
Full history up to November when it was last done. Mileage is around 150, belt done in 2013 at 105 ish I think.
I haven't had much chance to sort through it yet. Was bought as a gamble to be fair, but I'd hoped for some luck.
Let's see if I can add a pic 😁.
