Intermittent wipers not working |
|
Hello
My intermittent wipers aren't working when it's raining.
The normal constant wiper mode works but nothing happens on intermittent.
When the wipers are in normal mode, I don't know if this is relevant or not, when they reach the "park" position, they move back up the windscreen slightly as if the park position is wrong as well.
Hope that makes sense.
I've had the relay out, R2 but it's difficult to test it as I can't fire it without finding a 12v PSU.
Anyone got any ideas?

A second hand wiper motor is probably the best option

Does your rain sensing mode work?
My intermittent wipers don't work, but my rain sensing does. Most of the time.

You can’t have intermittent and sensor mode enabled at the same time in the CCF, one or the other. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The park switch is built into the motor. And yes at fault.
I think it’s easier to just fit a complete 2nd hand unit usually.

The park “swipe” is done on a separate circuit to the normal operating circuit, nothing to cause concern IMO.
By rotating the switch you can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor if CCF is set to sensors, or the time between swipes if CCF set to intermittent, sensitivity can also be adjusted with an Iid tool.
Make sure the windscreen is clean covering the sensor and the sensor (behind the rear view mirror, cover just clips off) is still fixed to the screen.
Swap the relay with another one in the fuse box that is not being used to test or two lengths of cable connected to the battery. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I have rain sensor enabled and my adjustment switch changes the delay on the rear wiper. No mods.

With rain sensing enabled the adjustment alters the sensitivity of the from wipers and the frequency of the rears.

It can’t do both though at the same time?

I am not one to argue and the manual mentions it but does not make it clear, but I am sure on my old D3 it did both, if the rear wiper was off it would adjust the sensitivity, if the rear wiper was on it would adjust the delay.
The sensitivity can also be adjusted and set by they Iid tool. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
