LandRover outsourcing to Independents?

I know that the LandRover Assistance is provided by AA although some of the vans are in LR's own livery, but at a recent call out, I got nether LR Assistance nor the AA...instead a local Recovery service sent a van and a "mechanic" who did not have LR specific training and only a generic fault finding tool that couldn't properly diagnose the fault code! Twisted Evil
Anyone else encountered this?
Perhaps they should also consider outsourcing the service element of the main dealers to some of the independent landrover specialists...might get better results

Last time I used LRA I was told I could have the AA in an hour or a 'proper' LRA mechanic in 4 hours. This seems to be the normal way they handle it, given the relatively limited number of 'proper' LRA vans.

I believe that for the newer JLR vehicles fitted with wifi etc they can do remote diagnostics ?

SWMBO needed assistance in the D5 last month (dead battery) was told 20min for local assistance or 2 hours for landrover. A local recovery chap turned up and got it running, guess if he hit anything more technical he would have had to just recover it or we face another couple of hours for LR technical support to get to it.
