Before I get the air con re-gassed |
|
As summer has started... my air con doesn't blow cold!! not even luke warm really, cooler with it turned to econ.
Looked at the fault codes, and various codes came up:
B1B78 - system pressure
B1b74 - front foot - defrost mode stepper actuator
B1b75 - Front foot - face mode stepper actuator
B1b76 - Front left air blend stepper actuator
B1b77 - Front right air blend stepper actuator
I did the HEVAC reset and cleared the codes only the B1B78 - system pressure code came back.
Looking at the data i can see the pressure is at 187Kpa (was 359Kpa earlier) so probably needs a pressure check and top up if no leaks found.
What does concern me is that the compressor / motor current stays at 0A even when I had the fans full and temp low.
Does the system disable the compressor when the pressure is too low or could I have an issue there?
Also noticed that the temp readings for the right hand control where a bit off!
right set temperature - 94.87'c
right temperature control - 0'c
is this a concern too?
any help would be appreciated. 08 D3 TDV6 SE

Air con doesn’t blow cold when set to econ just ambient temp that’s the purpose of it, it needs to be on auto to blow cold. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

If it’s leaking, usual suspect is the condenser.

I have had endless numbers of leaks, it may be down to being a v8, but I have not yet had a condenser that lasted more than a year (luckily they were all swapped out under guarantee). Last year I got the garage I use to fit a genuine one (they have come down in price a LOT since the first one I had fitted) and this one seems to have lasted OK so far.
On top of that various pipes have failed and been replaced (including the difficult to change ones going to the rear aircon unit, made even trickier by the LPG tank meaning there isn't a spare wheel to drop to give more room). Then at the latest service they noticed traces of a leaf from the compressor, well of course, it it the only bit we haven't changed yet!

i'll have a look to see if there's anything obvious
I have a feeling it could be a lot of issues to solve..... 08 D3 TDV6 SE
