IID and CTEK
Can I ask weather a CTEK 5.0 plugged into the towing electrics (aux socket) via the adapter on the forum shop is enough to stop the battery discharging when using the IID tool without the engine running for some of the jobs they advise in the IID instructions to put the battery on charge for?IID Tool

I am not sure the 5.0 would be able to provide the required duty. The 10 version of the CTEK has the ability to provide a 12v supply for this purpose. The 5.0 is only a trickle charger
I am sure someone will be along shortly who can confirm 100%When you are dead, you do not know you are dead. All of the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.

Depends what update you’re doing. If the battery is fully charged and it’s a quick update then no problem usually. But that charger is low power really. I use the mxs-25 as it has 25a supply mode.Bodsys Brake Bible

You need a supply mode. The 5.0 doesn't have a supply mode.

What about these new high power jump packs you can get. Would one of those attached to the battery do the job?IID Tool

Voltage quality is key here which is why it needs to be a supply, not a charger. As far as those small power pack, one would need to see the specs...http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

You have to consider that amps too, some flashes can take over an hour. Ignition will be on for the majority of that time
