Idiot wire question
I have a leisure battery in my car and there are 2 wires in the cabin, a positive and a negative.
But they are not marked, so can anyone tell me how to check which is which before I put an inverter in.
If it helps, I have a multimeter.
Cheers

The multimeter if with digital screen will tell you with a - symbol when polarity is connected wrong way around. Set it to 20v and connect the probes, if -12v appears you have the 12v supply on the neg probe!
There are simpler ways, but unless you're fond of bright sparks I'll leave that where it belongs yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Your meter should read -12v if it’s the wrong way round. You remind me of a younger me, not much younger mind...perhaps even a little older!

OR use a test lamp between each cable and the bodywork and as long as the Aux battery is earthed to the bodywork you will be able to tell which one is live as the earth to earth connection (negative) on the test lamp will not light. (that's assuming you have wired the aux battery that way of course)D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo
