Auto folding mirrors al la D4?

Here is one for the Faultmate Guru's.....

Has anybody managed to get auto wing mirror folding on the D3 when the car is locked like on the D4?

I have just received my Faultmate and am still working my way through the help and ccf's so wasn't quite ready to post on the BBS forums, just wondered if it was a case of flashing D3 boxes with D4 code or is the D4 all new in the electronics area?

Also could the D3 be given a RRS engine map and would there be any benifit?

Rich

Hi luvbus,

I saw you on the BBS forums yesterday Thumbs Up

I don't think this will ever be possible....(although I said this about the clock on the dash of a MY06 and I got this working Shocked )

There's no options in the CCF for the fold-on-lock to work and no D3s were ever produced that had this function enabled.

As there has been some big changes to some of the D4 ECUs, I'm guessing that the CJB (which probably controls this function on the D4) is completely different and therefore the software simply wouldn't be able to be flashed and if it was, it probably wouldn't work.

I had dismissed D4 features on the D3 too until I saw the post where Wiggs was swapping D4 boxes into his D3 I thought there was a glimmer of hope.

Oh well

@ PaulP

Hi Paul, just wondered how you got the clock on dash option working in your MY06? I also own a MY06 from August 2006 and would like to see if this can be made to work...

Thanks, Thumbs Up

Hiya,

I updated my MY06 instrument pack with the software for a later/similar (i.e. diesel, kph with message centre) MY07 instrument pack....

I'll put up a thread later on today with photos...

Interestingly, I've reverted back to the MY06 software - not because of the clock is it worked perfectly, but because the "lights-on" indicator doesn't exist in <MY07 instrument packs and it lights up the old FBH red icon instead Laughing

However, if you don't care about this, then it works perfectly Thumbs Up

I have done it ..but not with the faultmate .

Basically took a signal from the interior alarm sensor ...to a relay then to the power fold mirror relay .

Lock doors mirrors go in ..open doors mirrors out Thumbs Up

Downside ..if you use the auto lock feature then as soon as you set off the mirrors go in again. Simple answer is dont use the auto lock ( can be turned off in settings on dash ) ..but i like the auto lock feature and i live in Manchester Shocked

You only need a ground wire to activate the power fold mirrors ...i didn't bother carrying on with it ..but maybee when the weathers warmer i will have another look Thumbs Up

Wiggs,

Does the mirror fold relay need a constant feed or is it a 'flip flop' job that just needs a 'spike' to operate?

Drivers seat sensor could be an option if it is a constant feed i.e. mirrors out if your sat in it.

The brown relay on the left hand side of the fuse box area is the powerfold relay module(D197)

Pin number 2 - blue wire with black tracer(wire)

This goes directly to powerfold switch. Just needs a dab of a negative wire on pin 2 to bring the mirrors in .. Another dab and they go out .

Cheers for the pics etc. I will have to mull it over a bit for a suitable trigger.

Any thoughts on engine maps, could a RRS map be dropped onto the D3 for a benefit? It's not much use to me but there was supposed to be an increase on the D3's when the 07 models came out, can the later map be flashed onto earlier Disco's?

You could add another relay fed by the inj feed the cuts the first realy out of the loop when the key is on , this will stop the fold in when autolock enabled/active.

I nealy did the same thing on my rrs but never got round to it.

@luvbus,the D3 and RRS maps are very simlar and deliver the same power, but you cant swap them about without causing some problems somewhere.
