Headlamp washer help please
Hi. My D4 is due its MOT and I just noticed that one of the headlamp washers are not scooshing. It only has a few drops while the other side is fierce. I believe there is only one pump and a T in the line so there must be a blockage somewhere between the T and the washer jets. I managed to get the washer jets off the bumper and they seem clear when i blow through them.
Anyone know where the tee piece is?
I guess there are one way valves in the line so could one of them be gummed up?
Thanks for any advice

I would start by checking the jets also if you remove them try operating the washers the lack of restriction may clear tge blockage

Thx. Jets are good as i swapped the sides to check. Tried scooshing without the jet but its not helped. Im going to have to trace the hose back to the tee and check for any blockages. Hope I dont have to remove the bumper!

Hiya
I’m pretty sure there are 2 x motors , with the headlights having its own motor and a NRV down by the passenger side near the headlights washer jet ,
Will try and find a pic for u

Found some pics showing the pump, nrv just in case u need them, also has the part numbers there for u so u can shop around
Indeed, best to trace ur pipes back, alas can’t put any air etc onto the pipe because of the NRV near each headlight washers , so will have to find the NS one in order u can blow the pipes out towards the headlight jets
Not 100%, but looks like u can gain access by removing the passenger side front wheel arch liner , or just moving it forward to get to the pipes, pump etc

Hi @aja4x4 , Think ur right mate and see there are 2 x nrvs near each headlight washer , so indeed looks like it will be fun gaining access to the NS NRV,

Thanks for the diagram gstuart. Really helpful
I managed to fix the problem by taking off the grill and the 2 headlamps. There was a joint in the 2 washer feed pipes behind the nearside headlamp so i managed to blow air down both of them which cleared the problem. I think it may have been a sticky NRV due to the car being little used during the COVID shutdown.
You are right that it is very difficult to get to the NRV,s through the fog lamp holes. You can see them but it would be a to replace them without taking off the bumper unless you have tiny hands. You also have to be very careful when you take off the metal clips that hold the washer jets to the bumper as they have a tendancy to fall inside the bumper. Probably cheap to replace but a fiddle to get on and off through the fog lamp hole.
Took some time but no cost so a result.

Hiya
As always a team effort and glad the diaphragms helped
Great result and nice to see a free fix for a change
Wondered that ref access and also thks on how to get to them as indeed will a,so help others as have seen a few washer problems, as u also say, might be because of them standing
Also in the past I’ve poured some Milton into the washer bottle , great advise from @hardware on sharing that and really does clean a lot of crap out
After I let it sit for a while I used a hose pipe , pushed it to the bottom and let it overflow which got a lot of rubbish out from the bottom of the bottle
Reminds me , I must check the fluid in the washer bottle and add some neat windscreen wash in there also seeing we are heading towards the winter season
Thks again for the access tips and pleased it’s all sorted out
