Front window defogger

Hi all (again)

In notice there’s a front window heating function. And there’s a tiny dotted pattern in the window.

When I turn it on it defoggs a small section of the window

Is there any way I can get it to do the whole window? Or is it a fault?

Sounds like you need a new screen, any damage to the glass that will allow you to claim from your insurer?
 Must stop buying shiny toys....

Hi, I went through 3 windscreens replaced by Carglass after an MOT fail for a crack in my line of sight. When I got the first screen change back, the rain sensor was not working. On the second change the rain sensor worked but the heated screen did not. On the third change all was ok. If you change your screen, test the attached functions before you leave the shop.

Ok thanks

2 sections seem to be working, is there any way I can extend this with a bit of handy work? Or is it specifically a refit?

It’s probably not worth the money to swap just for this issue but it would be nice to get it working!

The heater wires in the laminate are only compressed against the bus bars during the screen assembly, not welded or soldered which means if the joint fails there is no practical way of repair other than a new screen.

Look what make the glass is, it will be engraved on the glass, I bet it’s been replaced by a cheepo Chinese copy, should be Pilkington.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
