Well I didn't know that!
2 things happened today which many will already know, but I thought were well thought out, but not obvious.
When such things as the rear interior lights not coming on when a door is opened on my RRS, you begin to wonder what line of thought (if any) went into the decision, however, the following impressed me.
If the engine is running, the rear hatch will not open unless the car is in P, and, if the wipers are on constant and you come to a stop (engine running), they will default to intermittent until you move again, when they then revert to constant.
It's the little things...........

Agreed, my favorite is the wing mirrors dipping when you reverse. I don't know if any (non JLR) cars dip their mirrors.D4 SDV6 HSE 11MY - Gone

The boot not opening is a safety requirement. On some cars you also can’t open the rear doors until it’s in park.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Same here golf does near side and that’s 1 thing that annoys me is that the wife’s golf reverse camera puts the D4 to shame. But that is the only thing it does better 😉2015 D4 HSE Loire Blue

A 1994 BMW M5 touring I drove had the dipping mirror on the passenger side. The issue was it was only available in LHD so it would be dipping the off-side mirror, not much use when driving it in the UK. It also had an auto dipping interior mirror to stop glare at night. Not fancy electrochromic like the D4, it had a motor that would actually ‘flip’ the mirror between the normal and dimmed positions. Just like you would manually with the lever.MY14 TDV6
