Additional Light Switch Number 2 |
|
Hi Guys
I am after some help if possible. I have a discovery 3 2008 commercial.
It has the switch for light number 2 to the left of steering wheel. I have an led light bar wired into that circuit and has been working.
My light is now not working and I am unsure which fuse number this would be wired to, do anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

The switch still lights up but we have no power to the light bar after the switch
We have tested the relay and that is fine

im no sparky but if you have power going to the switch and the relay is working ok (assuming you have tested it in situ on the car) then the only bits left are the wiring from the relay to the light bar ?
does the light bar work wired directly to a power source ?
does the dash switch actually work or just light up ?
like I say im in no sparky by a long shot but just throwing some ideas out there. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

In my car which has the factory spots, and the 2nd light button. The light button is always on when headlights are on, but the spots are only switched on when high beams are on.
Makes it fun to flash oncoming cars that have forgotten their high beams on.
Check the relay in multiple cases:
1. Check with the button off - headlights on - high beam off, take note of where power is on the relay.
2. Check with the button off - headlights on - high beam on, take note of where power is on the relay.
3. Check with the button on - headlights on - high beam off, take note of where power is on the relay.
4. Check with the button on - headlights on - high beam on, take note of where power is on the relay.
I believe that the relay will get 12v on one pole when the button is on.
And 12v on another pole when high-beams are on.
Depending on your notes, you could already work out where the wiring issue is.
Results should be:
1. no 12v on any poles
2. 12v on one pole (this will be the trigger for the relay)
3. 12v on a different pole (this will be the power source to the lights)
4. 12v on 2 poles (one being the trigger, and one being power source)
(p.s. I have not tested this in my disco 3, but this is how it was in my disco 2 and how most setups would be)
IF:
2. no 12v - the problem is the connection from high beam to relay
3. no 12v - the problem is from the button to high beam
OR, the lightbar could be fired.
As others have said, try connecting the light bar directly to a 12v source and see if it comes on.
If yes, move back up the chain to the connectors. Pre-Production
