Crankshaft pulley / sprocket
Hi,
I'm prepping to change my timing and install a new oil pump. To assist in removing the crankshaft sprocket I am going to make a retaining tool but need the PCD and thread size of the mounting bolts for the crankshaft pulley to sprocket.
Thanks
Connor

Connor, I have some doubts about your proposal.
The crankshaft pulley is not keyed to the crankshaft and you don't want any risk of the crankshaft turning.
You may successfully undo the bolt but you need to insert a timing tool in the flywheel or drive plate anyway, so I am not sure what the advantage would be.
If you have a manual gearbox, know all the above and do not want to rely on the timing tool when undoing/tightening the bolt, apologies.
The only person that I can remember locking the pulley was Flack. He was only trying to lock the crankshaft whilst changing the timing belt and reported abandoning the method.

My intention is to use the flywheel locking tool but to assist in the removal I have seen a tool helps. LR time have just made a good video showing the tool. With the previous owner of my car not being the best with regards to repairing/maintenance also want to ensure the timing is perfect and not out even by a fraction.
Thanks

If you're going to make a tool to hold the crank why not just pop off the pulley for the Aux belt and use it as a template? Or you could buy the pulley, part number 1341857, prices seem to be about £60.00 although I'm not convinced I would want to buy a new pulley then cut it up. I suppose you could buy a new one then cut up the old one? Hey ho, just a thought.

You cant hold the crank from the front as said before there is no woodruff key to stop it from rotating, you lock the flywheel which holds the crank so that when you undo the crank bolt the pulley just slides off.
