Hey all
Noticed my gears seem to be quite rough and clicky. Manual. Recently did gear oil and not had any leaks so wondering why it’s quite grindy. No codes. Is it just my imagination?
Next up. Just had air suspension front valve block done. Due to leak.
But the compressor seems to start every time the car starts now. Is this normal? I don’t recall it starting every time. The suspension doesn’t seem to correct or change and doesn’t lose height overnight.
Thanks I’m advance Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

It sounds like you have an air leak somewhere on the suspension.
With the gearbox you need to check the oil level, gearbox leaks can go unseen if they are leaking from the front seal into the bell housing or from the rear into the transferbox Andrew

Did you change the transfer box oil at the same time? If you did change it then the transfer box may need to be re-calibrated, it may be dragging on turns which may possibly cause issues when changing gear while turning perhaps. Stu

So the compressor shouldn’t be turning on at all when starting the car… unless it’s compensating for a leak?
As it’s just come from mechanic who said it’s fixed. Or maybe it’s not?
As for gears. No I haven’t done transfer box oil, yet. Just topped up the gear oil as it’s got a slow leak from above. About a month ago. Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

there could be a leak between the compressor and the air tank.
All the stuff under the passenger side doors.
compressor, control valve, then tank. Turn the engine on and off for 1 minute or till coompressor stops and then spray soapy (washing up liquid) water over the pipes looking for leaks.
If you can hear a leak, it could be the tank

So it’s not normal for the compressor to run every time the car starts then?
The air tank is 8 months old from new
Not had any issues at all until 2 weeks ago on front left wheel. Was told it was front block and was replaced with a second hand one. Car no longer drops. But compressor does run still even though height remains the same Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

no I don't think it runs.
Sounds like the front valve block fixed the front dropping
but now a minor leak on the left side by tank and compressor
The compressor is running to top up the tank, cus of a leak

I would have a look at the front air block air input for the leak
