Misfire on startup?

Hi, my 2005 2.7D D3 had developed what I can best describe as a misfire on cold startup.

It cranks fine, starts quickly enough but sounds like it's misfiring for about 3 seconds, and the battery light flashes slightly as this is happening.

Once it's warm, all other starts are absolutely fine... I'm going to check the battery (it's 6mths old) but an I right in thinking the glow plugs maybe the overall issue as it cranks fine and the battery voltage is 12v+ and then 14+ when the engine is running?

Glow plug(s)
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I had a (sinking) feeling that may be the case! I'm going to check current draw today and then try and find a local LR in SW Scotland....
