LR Time finally do the Oil Pump |
|
It’s a long one but our Friends in Germany replace the Oil pump on their D3 (and as usual, a few other bits)
There’s been a couple of topics recently around mounting an oil pressure gauge, and guess what? They have

He made a 4 hour job look quite easy, he removed a lot more than was needed at the front and side of the engine, first time its a struggle, good video for info.

I thought he had changed it before.
But doesn’t make sense to change it twice. Unless doing it for content.

Yeah, Christian mentioned when they were doing those oil pump tests that they had changed the oil pump just shortly after they bought their Discovery 3. I’m curious why they changed it, the old one seemed to deliver adequate pressure quickly upon startup and it was an updated design.
Like you say, maybe it’s just for content. Seems like a good tutorial to demonstrate what is involved in the job, though not quite a step-by-step guide. 2008 LR3 HSE, 4.4L V8

They had done close to 100k miles since last changed so I think it was preventative maintenance. Was not sure about greasing the inside lip of the camshaft oil seals as the workshop manual says should be fitted dry like the Crank oil seal.

I think the cam seals are the rubber variety unlike the crank seal?
