Broken Dunlop air to coil conversion spring

One of the rear coil springs on my D3 has broken. Allegedly it has a Dunlop air to coil conversion fitted, though the numerous errors I get makes me doubt it has the module. (It is possible the low ride height due to worn and now broken springs is also causing an issue.)

Does anyone know if the replacement springs I require are the standard D3 coil springs, or are they special to the Dunlop conversion?

This is looking a bit grim. Nobody seems to have the Dunlop kit in stock. Dunlop claim that struts are available individually, but since nobody has the kit, what are the odds of finding just the rear struts?

Does anyone know how the OEM coil spring and air suspension lower arms compare? OEM springs, struts and lower arms are available, but that is not a cheap option! What is the difference between the coil spring and air suspension lower arms?

Thanks for any thoughts or ideas.

With one coil spring broken, I would replace a pair or all four. To replace struts as well would cost around £200 each (for parts) from Advanced Factors, others are available for less.

Lower arms are different on coil spring D3's, but ones for air suspension models can be fitted. This question has been answered previously in more detail.

Thank you for the reply. With more creative use of search terms I have found some earlier threads which confirm that the only difference between the coil spring and air rear lower arms is a jacking tab on the coil spring version. That makes my life a lot easier as I can confidently fit any standard coil springs. It is a shame that the expert from Dunlop suspension could not manage to mention these fairly important points and instead convinced me that the Dunlop springs were a very special custom part of the coil spring conversion. 4x4works deserve praise for finding out that the Dunlop struts were actually identical to the standard ones, but as usual the fullest picture comes from the forums!

Why is that a shame? First he is not a LR specialist, but a Dunlop specialist.. second liability……….
If “dunlop” claims it works with other units than they tested with…. Who is gonna be to blame in liability issues?

And it is a very small market regarding conversion…..
Instead of what some “think” or claim… the air suspension on a D3 or 4 is the best for normal use..
The coil 4x4 “overland” addicts don’t use D3 or 4’s generally

You could buy the Old Man Emu coil spring kit. They do a front kit and a rear kit in medium (normal) or heavy duty. The plus 50mm is advised as the normal height springs actually sit lower than the air system units. Land Rover low line D3’s sat lower as standard. This may be a cheaper option than full new struts.

You may want to get front and rear springs so you have a matching set so the car sits level.
