Before I changed mine I noticed an unstabe idle when engine was cold sitting at traffic lights, which was worse in the winter.
Things I noticed with new injectors fitted, smoother idle, much much better starting especially in cold weather, no difference in mpg at all, I think it has more mid range grunt but that might just be a placebo effect.

i had unstable injection values as well, after much fiffling around with at least 4 Injectors i made the Asumtion that not the injectors are at fault, more likely the engine or some other parts.
Turned out that my knock sensors where bad and this also triggerred erratic idle and balance values

It idle fine but when i hit the pedal its start chuddering up to 1500rpm
I disconected the knocksensor its the same.
And when i rev it and let off trottle and rpm lowers its start chuddering from 1500rpm to idle and be stable.
How is the injectors place inj1 where is it on engine and so on?

Do you have erratic idle, smething like reving up to say 1300 rpm (with no throttle peddle input), drops back down and repeats on about a 2 second cycle? If so consider checking the oil temperature sensor for a plausible output. Mine failed to something like -32C. Makes the engine idle erratic/engine to rev on idle. You should be able to check via your code reader. Series one 1949 - in bits, chassis is strapped to the ceiling in my garage (beside the canoe)
LR 90 - In bits
Disco 3 - currently in bits

Did you clean your MAP sensor allready?
You will be amazed how much gunk is collected in the inlet manifold and therefore the sensor there
Have a read here:

Hi, why don't you do some research yourself in the WIKI here on this forum? and you will find the workshopmanual with all the details you need incl. the inj position
https://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Discovery_3_...air_Manual
section 303-01C Engine- 2.7L Diesel will give you the details you want...
Best regards
Harold
