Service Interval Indicator

On page 105 of the Owner's Handbook it states that there is a service interval indicator telling the owner how many more miles he can travel before the next service.

I have followed the instructions and get absolutely nothing!

Is it only me or is this yet another hole in the LR software?? It would be good to have this info available as described in the handbook - kind of sets one's expectations!

I wonder what else is missing or doesn't live up to LR's promises or, what they document should be there.

It is a pity to begin to 'discover' these issues along with all the others on the forum.

Is the D3 following closely in the footsteps of the D2 I wonder.....full of bugs, issues, problems, failures etc....

We have covered a bit on this and I have a feeling Gareth may be the guy to ask as he was one of the first to the 15K service. Failing that do a search. Not much help I know, but there is a bit on it.

It was first stated by the LR dealers that the Service Interval Indicator (SII) was not implemented as it was un-reliable on the RR... so like the timer setting on the FBH was switched off.

Only thing is that it is there but there is no countdown indicator. The SII does appear when it hits 15K, 30K etc miles and will need to be reset by the dealer during the service.

I have been told to stick with the written intervals (15,30 etc) and not go by the SII. Then the dealer will reset it for you - if they are aware of this as some are not still.

So... in essence, does work but not as in the manual Wink

Hi, it does work, but will only count down the last 600 miles. I know, because my dealer did not reset it at the 15000 service (it had not come on when the car went in), and at 17000 it started to count down!

I have decided that 15000 miles is enough for any oil, so I will be servicing at 15 intervals and not when the car thinks it needs it.

More importantly, the specified service interval is 15k miles or 12 months, whichever comes sooner. If you ignore that, and await the indicator (which does work) then you may invalidate parts of your warranty that can be attributed to not having the car service as specified.

Dealer reset only.

I have been advised that the SII on my Disco 3 HSE (05) can only be reset by a LR dealer.
Hence I have returned the vehicle to the dealer to be sold. The dealer has been excellent in every way.

MY SII satrted counting down to it's 12 month service, 14 days before the car thought it was due. Which was 3 months earlier than the service book said it was due. I rang the dealer. Service department busy, so I spoke to the salesman. He said "No problem sir, bring it in when you can and we'll reset the SII for you". Service department said "We don't reset the SII until we service them because it will mean it's wrong for you next service, just keep driving until your service is due and we'll do it then".
