does this indicate a battery issue?

Hi,

the starting has not been the best in the colder weather and checks show the glowplugs need replacing which is planned before the end of the month, while I have had the multimeter out I have also been checking the battery voltage,
via the tow socket and D3 sleeping I get between 12.3 and 12.5 over a number of days
a borrowed clamp meter showed 25ma after the 30min shut down period so within spec

took a few attempts to start today at 4 degrees and I had the IId connected
I took a couple of screen shots of the starting voltage,
first shows a peak drop of 2.8V
for the second a put a jump lead from battery neg to engine block to see if earth lead could be an issue
that start gave a peak drop of 3.3V
the battery was new shortly before I bought the D3 (so I was told!) so only 12-14 months old, can find no date codes though.

Could the volts drop on starting indicate a dodge cell in the battery Question

Thumbs Up

Taking into account the voltage drop you will get at the tow socket i would say you battery voltages are good.
Extended cranking will cause a significant voltage drop i would get the glow plugs replaced and see how it goes.
