U0416 banging my head against a wall lol HELP.

Hi everyone.

I am at a loss here and can't figure this one out.

I've scanned the car checked codes cleared and then the hdc light comes on. Do a scan and find.

U0416 Invalid data received from vehicle dynamics control module

Car battery is reading 14.49V (Engine running so presume that's the alternator, put lights, blowers, radio on to see what happens and voltage seems fine).

The HDC fault comes on even if the car is stationary and randomly.

I have checked
Steering angle sensor which at first was out by 3 degrees pointing left. thats now been recalibrated.

ABS speed sensors all work fine
Voltage to ride height sensors is equal and fine.
No air leaks

I switched over my brake light switch to a new one which then threw up ABS fault lol. Put old one back on and ABS light disappeared.

Rear number plate lights are not lighting up, tried different bulbs and nothing but I can't even see a fault code on the Icarsoft V2 to indicate a fault with the number plate lights.

Can anyone shed some light on this please.

There is a procedure to fit the brake switch.
Try looking it up on YouTube. I think you pull the rod out first against a ratchet. And then fit and it will self adjust.

Number plate lights won’t store a fault code.

Also ensure brake lights are working correctly

All brake lights work fine. Fuses are all fine as well.

I've watched 3 different videos on fitting the switch and none mentioned using a ratchet. One chap mentions that upon twisting the new switch in place two plastic bits grip and allows the long bit of plastic to pop out a little more and sit better against the pedal.

Fuse for rear number plate light is fine also.

It's weird because the tailgate works fine and as far as I am aware the number plate lights are part of the same wire harness as the rear tailgate switch which that works fine.

Sorry, I confused you using the term ratchet.

Watching this with interest as we are suffering this at the moment and I have changed the brake switch was a doddle just needed twisting in. I used a britpart one so have a posher one to move too. But am wondering if it’s light related as was far worse when towing although add to that my wife was driving it when it’s happening the most with light switched on not just auto and the battery might be suspect. ….
