I was wondering whether anyone else had been told that their Disco needed new rear discs after only 30,000 miles. I'm frankly not that amused as they are quite an expensive part.  Buckingham Blue V8 HSE, Side Steps, Privacy Glass, Lamp Guards, A-Frame Protection Bar with Driving Lamps and DVD

Expensive? Genuine available on ebay sellers for £48 a pair plus shipping - not sure that is expensive for discs these days.
I generally expect a disc to last two sets of pads, certainly trying to get a 3rd set of pads out of my D2 discs was a waste of time.
Are you auto or manual? Cheers

i'm on 70K and front and rear disks fine. just changed to 3rd set of pads at 65k Duncan

It could depend upon the material in the pads and the disc material, all these things have a tolerance, all but a small one.
It is not unreasonable to suppose these pads may have slightly more of the harder metals in and the disc could be at the other end being slightly softer than normal.
As Simons says  - the brake manufacture do not expect more than 2 sets of pads per disc, if you can get more thats great. Formerly shiny moose

Just had my rear pads changed at 37K miles disks were fine though. DS3 TDV6 HSE

Just had a look at front and rear disc pads, 60,000 km and look fine, It realy depends on how you dirve, city hard on the go peddle and hard on the brakes takes its toll on pads

Had 4 new discs @ 45k miles! 
Those first 9k miles before I got the car must have been had ones 
Stops on dime or six old pence though

I just had a rear pad wear to the metal after 34,000 kms, and score the disc which now requires replacement, $700 to replace both rear discs and pads!! All the other pads have a mm or 2 on them so am very perplexed. Is this normal? Dealer says the pad wear sensor is only on one set of pads front and rear and of course it wasn't on the one that wore out. Sounds a bit suspicious to me and I'm wondering if I have grounds for a warranty claim. Has anyone else experienced uneven pad wear or heard about the sensors not being on every pad? Gotta get it dirty!

Same happened to me, but disc just needed machining. You must have put a big gauge in it. I think you will find that the sensors are a guide only, so no claim. But there has been an issue with the caliper guides not being greased from the factory and causing the pads to rub.
How much wear was there on the other rear pad.
Also I thought of putting the sensor on the other two wheels but not sure if they can be fitted. "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"

I really question the value of "wear sensors", particularly if they aren't fitted to each pad.
On my D1, they were less than useful & I don't see them being any better on the D3. I think that they lull people into a false sense of security. Better to ignore the wear indicators & check each wheel regularly.

It is actually only on a single pad front and a single pad rear so doesn't obviate the need to physically check the pad thickness regularly. Not ideal at all IMHO... Cheers

Yes had exactly this issue - took the view that the car was marketed as having a brake pad wear warning light & there is no "warning" in the manual that it only works on certain pads & therefore reasonable for owners to expect it to work (or why have it?) - after a brief struggle LR gave in & accepted this & replaced the Discs under warranty; although I felt that it was reasonable for me to pay for the pads themselves as they would have required replacement regardless of whether the warning light worked or not. Unfortunately another case of Ford Accountants running the show & for the sake of saving a few £'s they spoil the functiuonality of the car.
