| Rear Parking Sensors jamming on |
|
I have a problem with my rear parking sensors, every time it rains they jam on and sound constantly, (when in reverse of course) once the car has dried out they work perfectly again. Not sure if its one of them or more thats causing the problem. I suspect it was caused by the guys at the car wash with a jet wash.
Are the sensors easy to change? I think I'll have to give Nick a call and check prices and part numbers.

There is an issue with water getting into the plugs for the sensors. LR brought out a new bumper harness to cure it. Best way to check is to take the sensors out and look in the plugs. If there is water, they will be all green inside due to corrosion. You may get away with just cleaning up the pins on the sensors though

Thanks for that, how they come out?
Is it possible to test them to see if their defective and if I remove one will the system still work. So that I can identify the duff one.
PS are they the same front and back TDV6 HSE - Light Guards - White Reflective Sticker

You will need to remove the bumper unless you have elasticated arms. The sensor itself fits inside a bezel which is fitted to the bumper.
Once you've removed the bumper, you need to carefully prise open the 2 plastic retaining clips/lugs on the bezel and slide the sensor inwards (away from the visible side of the bumper).
The bezels can then be removed by compressing the 3 retaining clips and sliding them outwards.

They are different......the connector is at a different angle/position for the front and rear sensors.
Hope this helps. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

I had this problem, it was traced to a chaffed wire under the rear bumper. When it got wet enough, it would make a contact with the metal on the bumper.

Nope. Can change all 4 without removing the bumper. If the harness if faulty though, then its bumper off.
Use a large brass punch and a hammer. No, it wont damage the sensor

Yes, push the sensors in the way. Then there are 4 philips screws holding a bit of trim to the bumper, undo these then you can get your hand up the back to push the surround out and push the sensor through the hole to check it.
It is a bit tight for space, i will say, but its much quicker and easier than taking the bumper off
