United Kingdom 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

I have squeaky brakes. Usually after it has been parked for an hour or two. Definitely the main brakes as it stops if you touch the brake pedal - but returns afterwards. Usually goes away after a few minutes of driving. It's embarressing in the supermarket car park though Embarassed

Had it into the dealers once, but the fault returned after less than 24 hours. I think they cleaned the EPB, which is probably my fault as I pointed them at it.

On 90BHPs advice I reversed accross a car park in low range with the brakes on a couple of times and seems to have improved it. The car is for service soon so they can look at again then. I will use a different dealer this time.

For the record, the car is 11 months old, but has only been on the road for 7 months (pre-registered vehicle) and it has covered a massive 4000 miles

Don't get me wrong.... I 'm not doubting those that may see it every day ..all I'm saying is that common problems are usually well documented on here and it's unusual for one to go relatively unnoticed. Thumbs Up

I had the squeek and tried the carpark trick, didnt seem to make any difference then did a long drive in the wet with heavy braking and it seems to have gone now.

I think it seems to be worse with prolonged standing of the vehicle. Mine was unused for a while by LR before it was sold to me.

Very simple this one:

1. Get the Karcher out.
2. Plug it in.
3. Stick it into wheel.
4. Blast all the crap out.
5. Do same from behind wheel.
6. Make sure you blast calipers and pads.

This gets rid of any dust build up or any other sheite around the brakes.
I've never had a problem with this on any of my Landys as that's how I've always washed my brakes.

Try it.
As for the dealer who wants to charge you for sorting that out, on a vehicle with such low mileage, maybe you need to raise your voice a little bit and maybe a bit more of an angry, 'I'm really p*issed off' kind of stance. Preferably on a Saturday afternoon when the showroom is full of punters! They're taking the michael!
Thumbs Up

I've just been asked for £150 to clean out the brakes on my 55reg TDV6. Did you pay up in the end or not? I'm too tight to pay them for this but they said if I don't the rear brakes might seize up so perhaps I ought to.
