Had Mine 10 Minutes

Hi all,

New-comer to board - expat NZ'er living in UK (another bloody colonial).

Up till 2am this morning reading your list of woes, and the (somewhat contradictory) feelings of love you have for your cars. I guess it's a good sign those of you who have returned your cars opt for the same, but newer, model and not a full refund.

I bought my (2nd hand) HSE TDV6 auto 3 weeks ago (ex-LR car), but turbo failed minutes after pick-up from dealer. Most I'd ever spent on a car, so was not terribly impressed. Love the car's look and it's versatility (that shouild read, expected versatility), but I have to say the outgoing but bulletprrof Subaru Forester looks mighty attractive out there on the driveway, let me tell you.

Am awaiting new turbo to be fitted - get car back later this coming week I am told. Symptoms of failure similar to what some have reported here - loss of power. Engine keeps running though. A restart fixes, but only at low speed/revs.

So, I have yet to really drive my new car, and my wife (who's car it really is) hasn't driven it at all!

Dealer has been fantastic so far - Hartwell in Oxford. Attentive and pro-active.

Like most late-comers to this site, I'm disheartened by the many faults being experienced. Mine is an early 2005 build with 25K on the clock. On one hand, I'm concerned this being an early(ish) build it will start to suffer problems, but on the other hand, it's done enough miles for the faults to have appeared and been fixed (fingers crossed). Time will tell.

Its not all bad news... had mine for 12 months and only had one niggle (loose suspension ECU connector). Now 32.5K miles later and all good !

Many others here have had nothing but good driving too.

Don't forget, forums like this tend to pick up on the bad and don't report the good.

All the best with yours... !

Sorry to hear about your problem, I like Simon have got a very early example (Nov 04), and have almost 33k on the clock. Had a suspension error that was troublesome for a while, but it was fixed on the third attempt.

Very few issues since. Fantastic car which still makes me smile.

There is a new entry on the Land Rover GTR website, which refers to Turbo issues, and a method change, so maybe this will be your answer. I am reluctant to pay another subscription to GTR, so maybe you should ask your dealer to have a look at GTR, and let you (and us!) know what its all about.

There does seem to be a spate of engine problems recently, which the early vehicles did not suffer from.

the method changes are just for service personnel. Describes a new method of removing turbo charger which saves time.

Not a fix for engine issues.

k1w1,
one valuable thing( of many) that i have learnt from this site that it not so much the vehicle as the dealerships that can be "faulty" as there seems to be a huge variance in the skill sets available.
When all is well you will find no better 4x4 Very Happy Very Happy
Alive and kicking..who's round is it anyway ??
