does the ipod side work ok ?
I fitted the same 2 units to another members d3 and to get it all to work i had to disconnect the earth of the battery for a couple of mins ..all worked fine after that .
Make sure you wait till the handbrake light is off before you disconnect the battery though (instructions are on a little sticker stuck on the batter cover )G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Couple of questions ...did you buy the kit of ebay ?
And did you by any chance record the part numbers on the 2 modules ( the ones that fit either side of the center consul)G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

on another note took someones advice and tried Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 Fuel Treatment , noticed teh difference after 50miles and now getting 2mile to the gallon more & it seems smoother and quiter eventhough it said it can take 250miles to notice any improvement

VUB501151 is the number of the wiring kit not the square box.
XJV500121 ( if you mean XVJ500121) is an old one ...latest is XVJ500122 ..so that could be a problem .
The other box should be XVD500021 ....If you have XVD500020 ..then there is a TSB on it which states
"A customer may report a concern that when the ignition is switched on or off, the navigation
system voice announces 'sorry' or 'command not recognized'.
Cause: This is a component software error from the phone system manufacturer.
Action: On a customer complaint basis only regarding the above, refer to the Service
Procedure detailed in this bulletin to renew the telephone module."
That might be why your kit was so cheep ..old defective stock ..
The 2 modules on there own are nearly £220 + vat
Check out the number on the small square box ...and also check someone has not stuck another sticker over the part number ( you will be able to see the 2 sticker because of the thickness) i have seen that before!!
If you have already fitted the units ..just undo the screw towards the footwell and then pull back the center consul ..reach in and pull the unit off ...you dont have to dismantle the car again.
Hope that makes senceG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Check the little box then for the part number
Then back to the dealer and ask why you have been sold old stock.
Quote TSB No.LA419-003
I would also be asking for the newer nokia one aswell ...they didn't change it for fun ..there must have been issues with it ..
I will post the tsb on here and you can print it off .G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
