| How to route a thick Cable from engine room to interior ? |
|
Hi,
I have now Defa engine block 220 V heater installed and the question is that what is the best way to route that thick branch cable to interior from the engine department ?
Have someone succeeded to route a cable trough the engine room "firewall" and would there be a spare rubber covered hole to use ?

The following may be reversed on left hand drive models but it will give you an idea of what to look for...
Inside the second battery box (driver’s side) there is a grommeted hole that goes through the bulkhead and comes out near the steering column in the cabin.
On an auto this will be a blind grommet that you can do what you want with
On a manual there will be a pipe running through it that supplies brake fluid (at low pressure) to keep the clutch topped up, it should be possible to route some cables through too. Pull the grommet away and back down the pipe a little so in can be reused in future if want to revert back, unless you're willing to disconnect the pipe temporarily (I wasn't) you'll have to devise a different way of resealing the hole once you've run your cables - silicone worked for me
Inside the cabin give the panel underneath the steering column a good tug from the top and it will come off (hooks in at the bottom) so you can access the other side of the hole

Thanks, it was excellent hint. According it, I have now installed Defa cable (damn thick, about 14 mm) from engine department to the interior to feed 220 V for interior heater.
