The only thing I would say is that the 265 BFG should go on a 7.5J 17 rim or wider. The standard 17 inch wheel is 17J 17 so accordingly, it is too narrow for the BFG. This may or may not be an issue (might run OK) but then it may not. It might also look a little odd (pinched!!). I think, from memory that this size BFG has a much much lower speed rating than the standard tyres, which again could cause you issues.
Would be interesting to see though. I have run BFG ATs myself for several years on a number of different 4 x 4s, and I have to say that they are just excellent - good road handling, good off road grip (it's only really thick mud that will stop a well-driven vehicle on BFGs) and they wear very well indeed. A great tyre all round.

mj, thks vm yr reply, however i have the standard 18'' rims, but
since there are no AT tyres availiable at moment, think to bye some
17''rims which can fit the bfg, and hv them as ''winter'' tyres fr snow/mud..etc, the standard pirelli's are good but after 5 months
of use they are already in the middle of their life.. and fr such heavy car
feel tht an AT tyre sould be fine.
could be any problem with transsmision or tranfer etc... frm the bigger
dimentions of such tires ???
cheers

Cooper Discoverer SST tyres are available in 18" rims. I have just got a set for my 110 from Nene Valley Off Road. Very helpfull chaps. You will have to check with them concerning speed ratings etc. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

The other thing to check is if the spare with a 265/70/17 will fit where the spare should fit.
When I compared the OEM 255/60/18 OD to a 265/70/17 they are about 40mm bigger in OD.
I was thinking about going from my 245/70/17 Cooper ST to 265/70/17 Cooper STT's. I have 17*8" rims so the width should be okay but the spare might not fit anymore.
