PaulP wrote:Isn't this thread supposed to be about Puddle Lights (i.e. the ones in the underside of the side rear view mirrors)?
I noticed a while ago that there are markings underneath the mirrors that could indicate that puddle lights could have been fitted....
Puddle lamps are located on the bottom of the front and rear door panels.
I think the markings underneath the side rear view mirrors are for the not-implemented motorized foldback feature. Originally, tilting the mirror control switch down while in the off position was supposed to foldback the side rear view mirrors (and tilting the switch down again would unfold them back out).
EDIT: Whoops, didn't realize motorized foldback had been implemented in English RHD. Not implemented in NAS vehicles.

The markings are for the 'puddle lamps+' fitted to some RRS and FFRR which use the same mouldings, nothing to do with folding mirrors. Providing the mirror switch is in the centre position, then the D3 mirrors will fold in or out with each downwards movement of the switch TorqTune

Thanks for the detail - so if I have understood correctly wiring is there but tied up just need light units to fit into existing mounting points in passenger & driver footwells??
Getting at the passenger side no issue - drivers side never had cause to remove panel below steering wheel how does it come off, traditional D3 heave ho and catch the clips as they fly off or is it hinged at all.
Cheers

Yes, when I yank anything off in my D3 I tend to keep my mouth open to catch anything that flies off
clips obviously!
Probably worth having a root around to see if the plugs are there before ordering. MIne is a 05 model so plenty of plugs lying about behind the interior panels A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Thanks for the info. We (NAS) don't have electric folding mirrors AFAIK. Sometimes keeping track of which spec does what is a headache...

Will try and get some pics up later
Fitted both driver and passenger from the wrecked D3. All wiring was allready there just taped to the loom on my 05 7 Seat base . Lamps just slot into the cutouts on the Kick panels under the Glovebox/ Drivers Kneeroll
Very simple to do and look great!
Im sure TLO could supply new lamps if you cant get 2nd hand . Cant see them costing much!
