Hi all,
Have been lurking for a few months now. Bought an 05 V8 HSE D3 in November and have been loving it ever since. The site is extremely helpful in learning about the common issues and very reassuring when parting with a not insubstantial amount of cash at the dealer's. Have been astonished by how good such a heavy vehicle is off-road (friends in RRs and X5s were green!).
I got back at the weekend to find that the petrol cap was not shutting properly. I think that the wife was a little over-enthusiastic filling up one day. Looking at it, a piece of plastic has sheared off in the push to click mechanism and all of the internal bits have come out. It looks as though it would be an easy repair to do myself if I could get the parts, but would something as trivial as this be covered by the warranty?
The cap still locks when the car is locked of course.

I think this is a known issue perhaps someone will confirm this.
I know my fuel cap wouldn't shut and when I did get it shut it wouldn't open without several thuds of my hand. Mine was replaced under warranty and dealer said something had broke inside and was a known issue.

Should be covered - it is rather flimsy in design so I don't think you're the first to report a failure. Tell the dealer when you closed the door gently it just broke.
