Pics of Midland 42 Multi CB Radio installs
Was wondering whether people with the above CB radio unit, would mind posting some instal pics as really interested in seeing how people have mounted these in the vehicle. Also what aerials are people using and where to get the power supply from. Am about to go out and purchase the unit and would appreciate guidance for fitting, type of aerial and roof fixing (uncle Ray's looks good) and how best to run the power/aerial to the unit
Also, what have people got fitted as the mic section added to this rig ??
The Unit clips behind the phone mount (can't use both together)
The home made roof mount lock into the channel with grub screws

I have mine in a similar location to CG except I use a small strip of Heavy Duty black vecro on the piano black surround and on the back of the rig which holds it in place just fine...you can pick up a viable mic at Maplins or pay slightly more for a rubberised speakermic http://www.kcb.co.uk/shop2/index1.html
I had the same aerial but now use a smaller magmount for ease of mounting 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Also, which aeriel have you got fitted to the mount...

Simple magmount http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29678 for quick install\removal for short trips works well. a 1-2 miles range I guess....longer trips I would put up the Thunderpole Orbitor onto a fixed mount similar to CG's ...range around 3-4 miles

..you'll need a 5 meter patch lead with the PLU plugs pre-installed ...then take the mount thats most suitable Don't forget that you'll need to check the SWR when in place ...so a meter will be worth investing in ..doesn't need to be expensive TBH21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Nice unit the 42 appears to be more compact in car connector mode...but it's always good to have another comparator.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

DG ...
How did you manage to route the magmount cable, from on top of the roof, into the car... Did you have to run it
thro the black gromet behind the nearside rear lights, or did you manage to run it thro another way ???
