Radio Reception getting worse by the day!

I know there have been a couple of threads about poor radio reception but over the last couple of weeks my radio reception just seems to be getting worse and worse. Radio 2 which used to be good is now fading in and out and I usually just have to give up and listen to something else. However even Radio Forth (local station) is not as good as it was.

I'm beginning to think the aerial has become disconnected or something. Any pointers to getting a look at the connections would be appreciated. As far as I can gather the aerial is the rear drivers side window (?)

PS It's just the standard low level GS radio .
Something that doesn't drink diesel and doesn't cost a bloody fortune everytime it needs serviced / fixed. But hey ....I got a deal from the leasing company on my D3 that you guys can only dream about !

I had a similar problem. Radio worked fine for 18-months then started intermitently not re-tuning via RDS when on long journeys, which then became a problem on every journey and even sometimes when on the main frequency. Could sometimes not get any station to tune in even when doing a full scan (auto and manual) of the whole FM band, finally, started doing the same on AM.

Took it to the dealers, who first of all said it was down to me having tinted windows (what a load of b****** that is for an excuse).

They eventually replaced the main unit and everything has worked fine ever since.

On a side note, had the addition that the new unit has a better bluetooth capabilty, so can now use the address book of my phone via bluetooth and no need to put it into the cradle all the time.

My D3 is also suffering poor radio reception. I have been driving up and down the Welsh borders quite a bit and put it down to the sheep. There has been quite an increase in the new breed of Faraday's. However I also noticed poor reception on the way to and from Romford last week so it cant be the sheep.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Mine actually isn't as good as it used to be either, and nothing has changed on the vehicle. It's not drastically worse, but noticable over the last few months.
