mine started the screaming, so for a few months until I could get over to the mainland I did not use it, went in for its service and silly me I did not mention it thinking the dealer could notice it when they did the service. I get it shipped over so I was not able to check it until it arrived back, still not working, so I stripped the rear wheels down and low and behold everything was rusted sold, had to chisel it out, so no confidence in Landrover so I ordered a replacement off the net, paddocks I think and fixed the lot for less than 50 quid.

When i apply the handbrake the car moves a further 500mm to 1000mm before stopping. Hard to estimate exactly. 55 plate with 60 k on the clock. is this an indication of future failure ?? Discovery 3 HSE 55 plate Buckingham Blue with Alpacha

not so much failure of the PB module, but certainly the park brake cables need changing/brake shoes adjusting/brake shoes changing
Would be worth while replacing the various clips and springs that keep the shoes insitu as these will stretch over time and often dealers just use the old one.
BTW if yours is 55 plater have you had ALL the flexi brake hose changed as per LR service spec?
OH YEA, BEST GET LR to do this kind of work as there is a Bedding In proceedure when you've changed the shoes etc - who knows if you've had the shoes changed recently by a non LR dealer then that might be the reason why yer car creeps forward

no need to use LR dealer as it's simple enough (even the bedding in procedure!) if yoiu're half handy with spanners.

EPB just failed again for second time. First failure fixed under warranty 18 months ago and now failed again in exactly the same was but out of warranty now. Car going into dealer tomorrow for assessment and if its the same issue and the whole thing needs replacing then I'll be somewhat miffed !! Feel like fighting this one as there is no way that a handbrake mechanism should fail twice in less than 4 years. Adjustment, shoe replacement and service I can accept but complete component failure...not acceptable...

So car back with yet another EPB module fitted. Out of warranty so had to stump up £700+ parts and labour. Dealer (Listers Land Rover or Droitwich) tried to get a good will gesture payment from Land Rover but no go. Dealer very sympathetic to the fact that a second failure 18 months after the original failure was out of order so ended up giving me a £150 discount as a valued customer so fair play to them. Will take this up with Land Rover customer services myself I think as they deserve an earful. Hey ho...

Hi all, yesterday I parked my manual 2007 tdv6 on my drive put on the epb and a very loud squeal
Came from the back of the car. I took key out and restarted the car and reapplied and it was ok. Shall I get it check out. Will it start to go wrong how do i park car without it. Can I leave it in gear if it fails my drive is quite steep.
What to do! it seemed aright this morning. Could it be just a blip or is a start of problems with brake
Thank peeps

Not unusual for it do do that takes up some slack. When released it will release the tension. Depends on how bad it is I suppose. I had a screamer in mine once and made sure it was adjusted on the next service. "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"

Just got mine back fromWilliams in Manchester. The EPB had started screaming when I tried to release it. Rang them Saturdaybmorning, they booked it in on Monday and fixed it the same day.
Well done Williams.
Incidentally, the brake shoes where completely worn causing them to stick on.

sue wrote:If you live in the uk pls go to vosa site and fill in form for vehicle safety defect report if enough people do this maybee we will get a recall on our faulty handbrakes.
2 days after having a major service on my 08 Disco 3 SE i had the handbrake stick on whilst stuck at a round about!! Finally managed to get it released manually but nearly caused an accident with all of the other road users having to bypass me to get around my stuck car on the entrance to the round about. I have taken to Stratstone in Cupar to diagnose what the fault is (although i knew from this site that it would be the EPB module) and they admitted that this is a known issue on the disco 3!! £1000 is the quote for replacement!!!! Just slightly annoyed. I just read a post from 2011 on here suggesting that we all fill in a Vehicle Safety Defect Report to VOSA and that way it highlights this saefty concern regarding these vehicles. If enough go in then Land Rover could be forced to re-design and eventually recall to fix the problem. Who know's, if we don't report the problem then it will never get fixed and land rover sit pretty collecting £1000 a time when they go!!!
This is a link to get the form you need. It takes 2 minutes to fill in and then e-mail it off. Job done.
