Cheers Stephen. Thumbs Up

Been keeping an eye on that. Just won it at £170 plus delivery so not much different to the £358.95 plus VAT quoted from LR along with the 3-4 weeks back order wait.. Evil or Very Mad

Now just got to get it fitted by JSF in Norwich.

Thanks for the heads up

Screeching when applying EPB then brake failure alarm. Only way to get park brake off was to switch engine off and back on and release brake. Took it to Adventure 4x4 in Morley Leeds. They replaced worn rear discs/brake drum, and pads. Re adjusted and all fine. No probs since. On the HSE the discs/drum are from Range Rover sport. But all in cost was £250 ish. Used Adventure 4x4 ever since , servicing, MOT and odd repair. Friendly small team, highly recommended.

Rockylizard - yep, I guess your EPB module torque clutch assembly has gone crook. Look after it for a bit. Repair kit will be available.
KevF - can you hang on a bit?
My PC is down and I've been on holiday, but we are looking at producing the repair kit soon.

I just had the same EPB scream and hoped a clean an adjust would work, No, the small brake drum shoes used for the EPB had melted on one side and disintegrated the car has done 29k and as an auto I do not use the EPB to often as it is known to be problematic. Interestingly LR do not sell the brake shoes as an axle set they sell them as a side at £55 ish each, well you would not just replace one side would you? LR marketing again extracting the last penny out off us, they are just smaller versions of brake shoes. The independent who carried out the repairs and has looked after my vehicle since new stated the rear EPB brakes had never been adjusted properly, I said well you service it, he said it is not a service option, but it should be properly adjusted when leaving the factory and it should be a service option and it is a common problem and he has seen it many times along with the actuator. always keeps one or two in stock. So not the worst outcome and not the best at £186 if the actuator had gone add another £350, look forward to the actuator repair, power of the forum, just a shame we do not seem to be able to get through to LR themselves.

Just wanted to say thanks - this one of the finest and most helpful things I've ever read on t'internet. Her indoors' park brake (05 SE Manual) has just started this caper - (squealing) at least I know what we're in for.

2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Manual Java BlackDiscovery 3

i got a screamer!!! Big Cry
The cars a 06 HSE.I had the epb stick on a few weeks ago,it made that rediculsly loud scream from under the car,but when i came back to leave where i had parked the epb released as normal so i thought no more of it.(i had'nt read this thread)
Then i used the car to tow a challenge winch truck to the 3 peaks challenge in Ireland,the epb stuck on at the end of a long day as dusk fell and i could'nt find the release cable Rolling Eyes .
So i reversed as i pressed down on the button/lever and the brake released.
Again no more problems for a week but now it sqeals every time it's used,i'm going to try and adjust the brakes today and see if it helps.
thanks for all the advice on here,i'll try and do my bit by posting what happens next Cool

EPB Locked up, with Screaming, and Lights.

D3 - 06 - 48K mls Pre-sale [to me] service ~ 2K mls ago. LR Warranty

1st screamer, lights, and EPB locked, on a hill, [before I joined this site] Sat bewildered for 10 - 15 mins, then all OK;
continued to use the EPB, but just P position in many cases;
After reading this thread, tended to rely on P alone, but not always.
Today, on a hill, EPB locked up with screaming and lights;
sat for 10 - 15 mins, all cleared.

Booked in to Main Dealer where I bought it, for check up [Not sure what it might be, Sir!]

In the mean time, am I OK to park, on hills, just on P position?

[Have read (most) of the Thread, and AW's impressive "Consultant's Report".]

Not just level hills. You can park on hills with a slope of anything up to 0deg.

HTH

Thumbs Up

P should be fine on hills, but for insurance, point your wheels in to the kerb once parked.
